The authors approach to D/s is logical and clear, even if one does not agree with each and every element. His writing style is clean and the book is an easy read. I highly recommend this book both to people who are considering exploring D/s relationships and to those who have been in them for quite a while. Very good reading, funny and informative. As a new Dom helped me ask some questions that seemed to be evading me and my sub.
This was probably the most touching and wonderful book I’ve come across on constructive Dominance
This book is well written and outlines a lot of good, practical advice. Thoughtful insights are placed throughout.
It's clearly written and structured, with an emphasis on the core emotional and interpersonal experience of kinky relationships and the centrality of enthusiastic and considered consent. The fantasies starting many sections give an insight into flavors of kink and dominance that you might not have experience of yourself, as well as setting up the discussion of what makes them work.
It's a fun read, presenting a non-prescriptive, consent focused and self-aware way of thinking about dominance and playing with power and control in relationships.
My wife has been asking me to dominate her for years. I grew from being very uncomfortable with it to being comfortable spanking her and doing a few other things, but it was still just because she wanted me to, and I always had this belief that I should be like the Fifty Shades guy or some other stereotype, and I always felt like I was failing to measure up. In reading this book, I gave myself permission to be myself, and I’m starting to tap into my own authentic dominant desires. Serendipitously, they happen to match incredibly well with my wife’s, and now I’m dominating her in a way that’s wild and fulfilling for both of us. Hot damn.
That's impressive in this topic niche. I enjoyed the example situations that preceded some of the later topics. I almost dropped the book in the recycle bin when the trans pronouns were used. I could care less about gay\bi\trans issues. The only time I get irritated is when I have it force fed to me in society. People love to accuse others of being ----phobic, I'm truly not, just tired of listening to it. Outside of that, I was pleased that the author didn't proclaim himself ultimate Dom status, and decree all others dangerous\liars\fakers\stalkers living in their mom's basement like Makai's condescending tone. Well written. Doesn't act as an intro to book.
