This is very much a mental book for me. The command and manipulation of the full spectrum of written language has me speechless. It took me some time to finish this book as it was like a literature study for me. I mean it in a very good way. It does not allow me to skimp.If you are looking for trashy mindless easy read, this is not for you. If you looking to be enthralled and impressed by the language, by the psychological study of how convoluted our minds are, I fully recommend this book.
Yes, it is a romance novel, just that this style of writing, is so uniquely different.

I found this a wonder-full read.
In cliche terms..."I don't usually write reviews"...as each book is unique and fits everyone differently. In this case I couldn't help myself as I loved it's uniqueness.
A beautiful all consuming love story. Between two people and also between the main character and the world around her. A coming out story, a breaking down story and a renewing story.
I particularly enjoyed how it took license with syntax; which in turn created a deeper understanding of the spirit, thoughts and emotions of the well developed characters.
wow! I am not even 40% through and I cannot recall ever reading a novel quite like this one. The narrator, or is it narration?, is extraordinary. This is not an easy read. Even though I am hooked, I can only read for about an hour at a time. It isn't so much that it is exhausting but rather each sentence needs to be relished, mulled and absorbed. I strongly recommend this to readers who are looking for something different and intelligent. It reminds of high school when I last read Faulkner. You read but you don't get it the first time. You have to go back, you want to go back. Start with the preview - if you can handle it, buy the book. It's a magical mystery tour and I can't wait to see where the very talented Christine Juhl will take me and her two wondrous characters.
